Puma
About ...
Puma-kun recently went to the vet for his vaccination booster, and was calm throughout the examination.
When we were filming him for the videos below, he was in an unfamiliar room with several cats he had never met before. He did not threaten anyone and did not hiss.
That is the kind of cat he is.
Male cats of this age often have far too much energy. They can be like tiny ruffians - handsome, but somewhat lacking in social skills. Puma-kun is not like that. He gets on well with other cats, and he never joins in the hissing exchanges we sometimes see between young males.
About his clipped ear
The tip of his ear is clipped because the original plan was TNR (trap, neuter, return to the original location). In the end, however, we judged that the place he came from - the shopping street around Takamiya Station - was far too dangerous for a cat, and that if he were returned it would only be a matter of time before he was hit by a car. We could not bring ourselves to put him back on the street, so he has been living at CATNIP ever since.
About his colouring
Seen on his own, you might well take him for a black cat. Set him beside an actual black cat, however, and it is clear he is a very dark brown.
Things to be aware of
He keeps his distance from people he does not know, at first. He may need a week or so to settle into a new environment.
He has not lived with small children or with a dog. This does not mean he would not get on with them - only that we do not know.
