"Online Fostering"

Supporting our animals while they are with us.

Each animal waiting to be rehomed at our shelter costs around ¥2,000 / month to feed and toilet.

It is common for our food and toilet supplies bill to be in excess of ¥60,000 / month. Ideally of course, animals are with foster families - but in principle CATNIP pays for food and toilet supplies in that case too.

You can help by paying to support an animal’s food/toilet costs.

We call this "Online Fostering". To be clear, you are supporting the cat financially, but don't physically meet it.

Each animal can have either one "Online Fosterer" paying ¥2,000 / month, or two "Online Fosterers" paying ¥1,000 / month. The minimum payment is ¥1,000.

"Online Fostering" isn’t an “endless” commitment - you can do it for a few months, then stop.


What you get.

"Online Fosterers" get their name on the page for that cat. [Of course, you can be anonymous or use a pseudonym too.] We can include links to your instagram, Facebook and Twitter too, if appropriate.

We are a small charity, and very busy. We can’t promise exclusive photos - but we will try and drop you a line occasionally with how the cat is doing, and tell you when it is starting a trial or is going to be rehomed.

Not all cats with us are available for online fostering. For example, we don’t usually mention a cat on our homepage until we think it is likely to live.
